Woman ‘dragged to the ground’ in sexual assault in Plymouth | UK | News

A woman was dragged to the ground during a « serious » sexual assault in a UK city, police said. Devon and Cornwall Police have launched an appeal in a bid to identify a witness as part of an investigation into the terrifying incident.

The force said in a statement the sexual assault happened in Plymouth at around 3am on September 12 last year. The victim, police said, was walking along New George Street in the city when she was approached by an unknown male.

Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement: « The suspect then engaged in conversation with the victim before attempting to pull her top down.

« He then followed the victim before dragging her to the ground and putting his hand over her mouth.

« The victim’s scream then alerted a female passerby which caused the suspect to flee. The witness gave the victim her jacket and walked her home. »

The force added: « If you can help identify Sophia, or are the witness herself, please contact us on 101 or via our website quoting 50260021188 »
