Meghan Markle has been sent a major warning about her recent handwritten letter to her dad Thomas Markle. The 81-year-old underwent life-saving surgery during which his leg was amputated, it was reported last month.
It emerged that Thomas had to be rushed to hospital and underwent a three-hour operation on December 3 to remove his left foot and lower leg after a circulation issue turned the limb blue and black. After hearing of her father’s surgery, Meghan reportedly reached out to her dad via a handwritten letter.
The letter was then given to Thomas, who has not been on speaking terms with his daughter since 2018, in the presence of a lawyer. The lawyer present also videotaped the handover.
Speaking on the latest episode of I Rest My Case podcast, Making a Murderer attorney Dean Strang sent Meghan a major warning if the letter was to get into the hands of the media.
He said: « It amazes me as an American lawyer that Meghan should recover if her father willingly disclosed for payment or not willingly disclosed a private letter from his daughter to the media I in, in the US, you as the writer of that letter would be taking the risk of unreliable eyes, unreliable ears on the part of the recipient.
« You know, you sent it to him, what he does with it, » adding a five-word warning that « you can’t expect a control ».
Following his surgery, it was reported that he will then need to get used to using the aid of a walking frame before moving on to using crutches.
It is hoped Thomas will be fitted with a prosthetic leg at some stage, with Meghan not thought to have made any plans to meet with her father in person.
