A woman’s body has been recovered from the sea at a popular UK beauty spot. Devon and Cornwall Police were called at 1.30pm on Monday (January 5) to Berry Head in Brixham, Devon, after a body was discovered in the water.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but tragically, the woman in her 50s was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police said the woman was a local resident and that her next of kin have been informed. A coastguard rescue helicopter was seen in the area yesterday afternoon.
Officers added that the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: « We were called around 1.30pm on Monday 5 January following the discovery of a woman’s body in the water off Berry Head, Brixham.
« Emergency services attended but sadly, the woman in her 50s and from the local area, was pronounced deceased.
« Her next of kin has been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a file will be prepared for HM Coroner. »
