The world’s biggest indoor beach, twice the length of a Premier League football pitch, maintains a constant temperature of 26C throughout the year.
This artificial sandy beach, spanning 200 metres and adorned with palm trees and sun loungers, is tucked away inside the Tropical Island Resort in Krausnick, Germany. The resort also boasts the largest indoor swimming pool and one of the most extensive indoor rainforests.
Brits can snag return Ryanair flights to the nearest airport – Berlin Brandenburg Airport – from just £47 from London Stansted Airport.
The colossal indoor waterpark, once Europe’s largest, is an hour’s drive from Berlin and was constructed in 2004.
The sprawling 10,000sqm area features four attractions: Water Worlds, Tropical Rainforest, the outdoor Amazonia area, and the Tropical Village where visitors can purchase food, drinks, and souvenirs.
The vast complex can host up to 6,000 guests at once, who can even enjoy hot air balloon rides within the unique resort housed in a massive dome hangar.
With a consistent balmy temperature of 26C, there are 900 sunbeds available for guests. The enormous swimming pool in the Water Worlds section is equivalent to three Olympic-sized pools.
Bali-style huts encircle a water lagoon, while children can enjoy a Jungle Splash water playground.
The resort boasts an impressive slide tower reaching 27 metres (the height of a four-storey building) while a power turbo slide achieves velocities of 43mph. For thrill-seekers wanting more, there’s an enormous twisting water slide stretching 149 metres in length.
Within the Tropical Rainforest, approximately 50,000 plants flourish alongside butterflies, flamingos and turtles. Additional attractions include mini golf facilities and a village drawing inspiration from Bali.
Grown-ups can indulge in the spa and sauna facilities, featuring seven distinct spa zones, while caves modelled after Cambodia, Australia and Malaysia provide further intrigue.
Accommodation options include rooms within the resort itself or tents available for overnight hire.
The Hawaiian-themed Ohana Town opened last year, offering lodge accommodation, bowling facilities, restaurant dining and karaoke entertainment for overnight guests.
Day passes for adults begin at approximately £30, youngsters aged four to 12 from £26, while children aged three and under enter free of charge.
In a recent TripAdvisor assessment, one visitor noted: « Prices rise annually. It’s starting to be quite expensive fun. In winter still good, because you feel like on holiday. »
Another described it as « beach paradise for families with children » before noting: « Large, warm pools and several waterslides for those who like it.
« Lots of sunbeds but they get busy very quickly so if you want these you need to come early in the morning, then they dibs all day. »
