A spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 6.45am on Friday, 19 December to reports of a flat on fire at Calder Court, Calder Street, Coatbridge.
“Operations Control mobilised 11 fire appliances and one height vehicle and firefighters are working to extinguish a fire affecting a flat within a multi-storey building.
“Two casualties are in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews are currently still at the scene.”
