Trump to deliver prime-time address in hours – ‘He’ll bomb Venezuela’ | World | News

Donald Trump has announced he will make a national address from the White House on Wednesday, with people quick to speculate that he could declare war on Venezuela. The US president has introduced a series of escalating measures to tackle drugs coming from the South American country that many have said could lead to the toppling of its government.

Now, he has made a vague statement regarding tomorrow’s address that has left people guessing what it could be about. He wrote on his social media platform Truth Social: « My Fellow Americans: I will be giving an ADDRESS TO THE NATION tomorrow night, LIVE FROM THE WHITE HOUSE, at 9 P.M. EST. I look forward to ‘seeing’ you then. It has been a great year for our Country, and THE BEST IS YET TO COME! »

Some people on X have speculated that Mr Trump could declare a strike on Venezuela as the White House continues what it believes to be a crackdown on drug trafficking.

The US President recently raised the possibility of military intervention, alleging that the country ships narcotics to the US, which Venezuela denies.

In response to Mr Trump’s announcement, Polling USA wrote: « Declaring martial law or bombing Venezuela, call it. » It then followed up one minute later: « It’s bombing Venezuela. »

Akash Maniam added: « Could be anything from invading Venezuela to another nothing burger. »

Another user speculated: « War with Venezuela to distract from the Epstein files on Friday. »

Mayank Mishra joked: « We are either going to war with Venezuela or Trump has a coffee mug with his face on it that he wants you to buy for Christmas. Could go either way. »

It comes as Trinidad and Tobago granted US military aircraft permission to use the country’s airports in the coming weeks, adding to theories that the US could strike Venezuela.

Washington has increased operations in the Caribbean and Pacific, including more than 20 strikes on suspected drug-trafficking vessels this year that have killed nearly 90 people.
