A man has been arrested following a stabbing that caused serious injuries. The incident took place near a family centre and police say the shocking incident has caused concern in the local community for those living nearby.
The stabbing took place in Atworth Close, Swindon at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, December 3. Police were called to the scene nearby North Swindon Family Centre in Penhill.
A 39-year-old man suffered stab wounds and was rushed to hospital where he is currently being treated for serious injuries. The force arrested a 36-year-old man from Swindon on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
Following the violent incident, there will be extra police presence in the area. Wiltshire police ask for anyone with information or footage to contact them.
Chief Inspector Carly Nesbitt said: “We would like to hear from anyone who was near the North Swindon Family Centre in Atworth Close Swindon at about 5.30pm this evening who may have witnessed what took place.
“We recognise the concern that this incident will have had for those living nearby. Members of the public will notice extra police presence in the area over the coming days, if you have any concerns or information, please approach our officers.
“We are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident and there is not thought to be any ongoing threat.” Anyone with information or camera footage taken from the time is asked to call 101 quoting log 267 of today’s date (03/12).
