Bizarre reason why men’s boxers have hole in the front

People across the world are only just realising what the hole in men’s boxers is for. With over half the population using this type of underwear, it is only natural to wonder why on earth the gap is there.

For any boxer-wearing people out there, you’ll know that there’s a little pocket-like hole at the front. But many perplexed wearers are curious about its origin. It is believed that this hole has a likely origin dating back to the Renaissance and its official name is a fly. Answering the age-old question, Sheath Underwear put people out of their misery.

Sheath explained: « The hole in your boxers is also called a fly.

« You’re free to call them whatever name you want, but the functional term is still fly.”

The business went onto say that it’s simply to make it easier to pee whilst wearing them.

The business said: “The purpose of the fly is to make it easier for you to pee while wearing boxers.

« Only about 20 percent of males who wear boxers actually use the hole in their boxers and would rather pull them down and take out their member when using the restroom. »

They added: « The fly makes it more convenient to urinate in a public restroom, even though only 20 percent actually use the holes. »

Not all men’s underwear, but a majority, especially boxer shorts, come with some sort of pouch.

Sheath added that in the past, this area used to be just a simple slit but is changing drastically now, introducing a roomier pouch or the actual pouch where the fly is.

Sheath’s website states: « Today’s modern underwear is nothing like what men wore even a few decades ago.

« In the past, this area used to be flat.

« New boxer briefs and men’s briefs have a design that actually has a roomier pouch.

« This new pouch design gives the man more definition, comfort, support, and freedom. »

In a thread posted to X one user asked: « Do you use the hole in your boxers or briefs, or do you pull the waist band below your junk when you pee? »

Someone replied: « Does it not just depend on your outfit? If I’m at home in pajama pants or basketball shorts, just flip it over the waistband. If I’m at work with a dress shirt and pants and a belt, I go through the hole. »

« I pull the waist band down. Always seemed easier and less awkward than trying to use that hole, » said another.
