A small town in Europe which is surrounded by beautiful scenery is a perfect place to visit for a peaceful short break in Europe. Surrounded by the highest peaks on the island of Hvar, on the northern coast, you’ll find the small town of Jelsa on Hvar island in Croatia. Jelsa overlooks a bay of crystal-clear waters, making it the perfect holiday destination.

One must-visit beach near to the town is Zavala Beach which is just 18 minutes away by car.

Another spot to visit in the area is Grapčeva Cave, located about 13 km southeast of Jelsa.
The cave contains prehistoric ceramics and the oldest depiction of a boat in Europe which dates to between 5000 and 4000 BC, according to Time Out.
Just a short ride away from Jesla, the cave is one of the most popular places for visitors to see while in the town.
Another two important things to see in Jelsa are the church of the Assumption and St John Square with its Renaissance and Baroque appearance. Visitors are often in awe of these structures which are well-known across the island of Hvar.
A visit to Jelsa also allows you the chance to catch the sea plane between Jelsa and Split if you wish to enjoy incredible views of Dalmatia’s capital city and balance quiet, secluded areas with bustling tourist hotspots.
Hvar island is home to more UNESCO World Heritage Sites than any other island in the world.
It is often found in top 10 lists due to its beaches and clear waters which are much-loved among travellers.
