Spring has come early, with temperatures reaching up to 18 degrees in some part of the UK over the weekend. It’s definitely time to phase-out those
Warmer weather may mean you can say goodbye to thick coats, but light layering is still a necessity for spring days. A denim jacket should be your go-to for spring. Just like you can wear your trusty pair of jeans with most things, a jacket in the same material could become one of the most versatile items you own.
Denim jackets don’t have be a costly purchase, in fact you can get one for under £20 with the current sale at White Stuff. The Dayton Denim Cotton Jacket has been cut down from £55 to £17, saving 69% off.
It’s a good time to buy, as seasonal clothing at the time of year you actually need it, and we’re not sure how long this saving will be around. White Stuff has a good size range (from 6-24), and while most sizes of the jacket are still available, some are already starting sell out, so it’s worth being quick if you want to buy yours for £17.
A denim jacket is something that’s likely to stay in your wardrobe for years, and although they come in many different shapes and styles, the classic style has never lost popularity. The White Stuff jacket is exactly that, with a classic fit that falls to the hip, plus this one comes in petite and regular lengths.
It’s well-reviewed, with an overall rating of 4.6 stars. Many of the White Stuff shoppers who’ve bought the jacket have commented on the quality and feel of it, saying it’s: »A very good version of the standard denim jacket. Lovely soft denim and comfortable to wear. »
Another was pleased about the overall look of the jacket, adding: »Beautifully soft denim jacket, very well made and finished. Lining on the inside [of the] shoulders gives it a wow look! I’m a mature lady – [I] was a little unsure about if I could wear it –but I love it – and have had many compliments!! White stuff is the right stuff for EVERY body!!!! [SIC]
You could wear the denim jacket with most things, but several of the reviews mention how they would style it, for example with long skirts or dresses – but until it’s warm enough for that, I’d pair it with a t-shirt and linen trousers for spring days. It’s also handy for throwing over summer dresses for the evenings.
Roman’s denim jacket is a subtly brighter hue, with a mid-blue wash and a very slightly cropped length. Sitting just below the waist, this would be flattering paired with maxi dresses, as it could break up the long length and add some definition.
It costs £35 from Roman clothing, and it comes in 11 different colours, including a lighter and darker version of the blue denim, or you could opt for one of the bright colours.
If you already own a classic denim jacket and want something a bit different – the £49.50 Denim Belted Relaxed Jacket from Marks and Spencer could be for you. Instead of the usual boxy fit, this jacket has matching belt to cinch-in the waist.
If I was going to style this for the season, I’d go for a fitted shirt or bodysuit underneath to prevent any bulkiness, and then wide-leg jeans or floaty trousers on the bottom.
In White Stuff’s current collection there’s also the Eden Denim Relaxed Jacket for £70, which is a lighter, more relaxed alternative to a structured denim jacket.
If you’re embracing the bohemian look this year, it would work well with floaty outfits, and as the material looks thinner with more movement, you could probably also button it up and wear it as a shirt.
