Man gets ‘poked’ travelling on plane – but is gobsmacked by what it is | Travel News | Travel

Travelling can be a stressful experience, so it’s always good when you have a comfortable plane journey.

As much as it can be exciting to jet off to new and exciting places, the thought of being sat in the same seat for hours can also be a little dreary. So, when someone keeps poking you when you’re on a plane, this doesn’t make matters any better.

This is exactly what appears to have happened to one man who recently headed off on his travels. He was sitting peacefully in his seat when he noticed something « poking » his elbow.

When he turned around to see what it was, he couldn’t believe what he found. He was so baffled by what happened that he posted about it on Reddit to ask people what they thought.

He wrote: « You’re on a plane. Sitting at window seat. Suddenly your left elbow is poked by something hard and warm. You turn to see this. What do you do? »

In the picture, you can see that a person’s foot has been wedged near his arm rest. It seems to have pushed so far forward that it kept touching the man in front.

The worst part is, the passenger wasn’t wearing any shoes, so their toes kept coming into contact with the man. It’s fair to say the image got a lot of people talking after it was shared on social media.

One person said: « I am an air steward and, trust me guys, people sit in all possible weirdest ways in a aircraft regardless how less leg room they have. And the audacity to remove the shoes with their smelly stockings, or feet exposing around is pleaseeeee, disgusting man. »

Another wrote: « Ask the flight attendant to politely ask the person behind you to sit properly and act like a human – not a chimp. »

A third replied: « Ah, this reminds me of what I did. It wasn’t a window seat though, but same thing. I felt the toenail was poking through. She was wearing socks though.

« I even looked back and stared down hoping she would get the message, but the audacity of this where the foot goes further front a bit. So I lifted the armrest and immediately looked back – it was somewhat satisfying to see she stumbled because her feet fell to the floor, and never took the armrest down through the flight. »

Meanwhile, a fourth also wrote: « Why the heck do these people like to open their shoes while on a fully air-conditioned place? The smell travels you know. »

Should you take your shoes off on a plane?

Generally, it’s considered impolite to take your shoes off when travelling on a plane. They should typically be left on unless you have a medical reason to remove them.

You should keep your shoes on as walking around barefoot could lead to an infection, it can be unpleasant for other people travelling and it can also make it more difficult to put them back on if your feet start to swell.
