The sweet 3-word nickname Princess Kate gave Prince George before he was born | Royal | News

The Princess of Wales is said to have given her eldest son a very sweet nickname before she even welcomed him into the world.

Prince George, who is the eldest of Prince William and Princess Kate’s three children, was born in London on July 22, 2013.

The gender of the young royal, who will celebrate his 12th birthday later this year, is said to have been kept under wraps until his birth.

Speaking back in 2013, royal expert Katie Nicholl wrote for Vaniety Fair that Kate « apparently suspected » that she was set to welcome a son.

The expert said: « Although Kate apparently suspected it was a boy and had her heart set on Alexander, they had not yet decided what to call their firstborn. »

Revealing Kate’s apparent nickname for her first child, she added: « Kate reported to have affectionately referred to her bump as ‘our little grape’ while she was pregnant, and there was a flurry of betting on possible names. »

Princess Kate’s first pregnancy was announced by St James’ Palace in December 2012.

The 43-year-old was, at the time, suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum. This was a condition that she also had during her next two pregnancies with Princess Charlotte, now nine, and Prince Louis, now six.

Kate is said to have given birth to George naturally at the Lindo Wing in London.

The proud parents appeared on the steps to present their newborn son to the awaiting press.

According to HELLO!, proud dad Prince William had the duty of calling the late Queen Elizabeth first to share the happy news of Prince George’s birth.

Recalling George’s birth, Princess Kate previously told Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast: « It was utterly extraordinary, actually. And he was very sweet. And also sort of relieved that he was happy, healthy boy. »
