Man Utd and Tottenham’s paths to Europa League final confirmed in draw | Football | Sport

Manchester United, Tottenham and Rangers have discovered their opponents for the remainder of the 2025 Europa League.

Despite a rocky season in the Premier League, United remain unbeaten in Europe this season, having won five and drawn three of their league phase matches.

As a result of finishing inside the top-eight, they were rewarded with a seeded position for the knockout draw, alongside fellow British sides Tottenham and Rangers.

Their paths to the final, including potential quarter-final and semi-final opponents were determined during Friday’s draw.

United will return to Spain to face Real Sociedad – a side they played in the Europa League group stage two seasons ago.

Should they progress beyond the La Liga side in the round of 16, Ruben Amorim‘s side will come up against one of FCSB or Lyon in the quarter-final.

Whereas the Red Devils could face either Roma, Athletic Club, Fenerbahce or Scottish side Rangers in the semi-final.

Should they make it as far as the final, United or Rangers will be the designated away side.

On the opposite side of the draw, Spurs face a last-16 tie against Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar.

It presents a strong opportunity for Spurs to make it to the quarter-finals of the Europa League and if they make it that far, Ange Postecoglou‘s side will play one of Eintracht Frankfurt or Ajax in the last eight.

The quarter-final is likely to be Tottenham‘s hardest match of the competition, given they’ll play one of Bodo/Glimt, Olympiacos, Lazio or Viktoria Plzen in the last four.

Because they’ve been drawn on the left-hand side of the draw, Tottenham will have the chance to be the designated home side in the final held in Bilbao.
