Meghan Markle pays emotional 7-word tribute to Prince Harry as Duke opens Invictus Games | Royal | News

Meghan Markle was pictured planting a kiss on Prince Harry in front of an adoring crowd in Canada, at the start of the 2025 Invictus Games.

The Duchess of Sussex also paid tribute to her husband, describing him as « someone who means a lot to me ».

The eight-day sporting event, held for injured military veterans, is being hosted in Vancouver, British Columbia and was opened by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Introducing Prince Harry, Meghan said: « We are just thrilled to be here, and I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to introduce someone who means a lot to me.

« And I know he means quite a lot to all of you. You will see him throughout this week. »

She went on: « You will see him at the Games. You will see him probably curling with you, cheering you on.

« He’s in it with you, and you’ll see him through all of those moments. He’ll be there with you. »

The couple are reportedly staying in the £5000-a-night ‘rock star suite’ in the opulent Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel.

Besides, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, music superstars Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado and Coldplay’s Chris Martin all performed at the ceremony.

The Invictus Games 2025 start today and run untul February 16.

The Games were started by Prince Harry in 2014, and were held in London. Since then, the Games have been held around the world including in the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, and Australia, amongst other nations.
