Melania’s fearful admission as she ‘worried’ about Barron’s health | US | News

Melania Trump has confessed she was « deeply worried » about her son Barron when she contracted coronavirus in 2020.

In October 2020, US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania revealed they had both tested positive for Covid-19 and were self-isolating.

At that time, the president’s physician, Dr Sean Conley, issued a statement noting that the president and first lady were « both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence ».

Dr Conley assured the public: « Rest assured I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without his disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments. »

Despite initial reassurances, it was subsequently disclosed that President Trump was hospitalised « out of an abundance of caution » due to « mild symptoms », with the White House indicating he would stay there for « the next few days », reports the Irish Star.

In her memoir, Melania recounts that her husband experienced « more severe » symptoms than she did, prompting her to encourage him to go to Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre.

Although not overly concerned for herself, the 54-year-old former first lady admitted feeling « overwhelmed » with concern for her spouse and their son Barron.

She shared: « Barron and I had spent the previous evening chatting in my room, and although he continued to test negative, I feared he might soon fall ill as well.

« He was young and healthy, but the uncertainties surrounding the virus were daunting. As any mother would, I worried deeply about my son. »

During his bout with COVID-19, former President Trump received an experimental drug cocktail injection and remdesivir, leading to a rapid recovery.

Melania confessed that she chose not to undergo the « aggressive » treatments given to her husband, instead focusing on her wellbeing through more gentle medications, vitamins, and a balanced diet.

Barron, too, contracted the virus, yet Melania remarked that he showed no serious symptoms throughout the ordeal. On 6 October, after a three-night hospital stay, Trump, aged 78, returned to the White House, continuing his treatment. He then delivered a video address, compelling Americans to return to work.

« Don’t let it [coronavirus] dominate you, » he asserted, insisting: « We’re going to be out front. As your leader, I had to do that. I knew there’s danger to it, but I had to do it. I stood out front and led. »
