South Africa’s beautiful seaside town with incredible beaches was named one of the country’s best places to visit by Lonely Planet.

A favourite among locals, the stunning Winter sunspot with average highs of 27 degrees in December has crowned the best town for beaches.

In addition, Knysna’s lush, closed-canopy forests, fresh lakes, and staggering mountains make this area a naturally blessed paradise.

It also sits on the iconic Garden Route in the Western Cape, which begs to become an unforgettable road trip along the N4 highway through beautiful beach towns, including George, Wilderness, and Plettenberg.

The golden sands and lively waves of Noetzie and Brenton-on-Sea make it a favourite among surfers and holidays looking to relax.

It’s surrounded by dense forests which pulsate with wildlife, while mountains give way to stunning views over pristine beaches.

Visitors can try kayaking on the Knysna Lagoon, and avid walkers will enjoy the breathtaking views from The Heads.

Nature lovers could also take a short ferry trip to the naturally blessed Featherbed Nature Reserve or visit the National Lake Area, home to over 200 species of fish and the endangered Knysna Seahorse.

Shopping in Knysna has been likened to a treasure hunt. The city boasts a wide range of handcrafted furniture made from indigenous timber.

George Airport is about one hour from Knysna, and it is served by connecting flights from Heathrow Airport, London.
