Everything you need to know as Nottingham Forest hunt for a new head coach after sacking Sean Dyche

  1. Sean Dyche has been dismissed by Nottingham Forest following a goalless draw against Wolves. The decision reportedly stemmed from growing fan frustration and a perceived lack of tactical flexibility during his 114-day tenure.
  2. The club have now seen three managers leave this season. Dyche follows the incredibly brief 40-day stint of Ange Postecoglou and the earlier departure of Nuno Espirito Santo.
  3. Forest currently sit in 17th, just three points above the relegation zone with only 12 matches remaining in the season. The next appointment will be tasked with finding immediate stability, and a handful of top candidates are available.
  4. Vitor Pereira is in the running after leaving Wolves in November 2025. He notably has a strong existing relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis from their time together at Olympiacos.
  5. Thomas Frank is a leading candidate after being relieved of his duties at Tottenham just yesterday. He has a proven ability to overachieve with limited resources, and the club pulled off a similar move when snapping up Postecoglou.
  6. Roberto De Zerbi is a free agent after mutually parting ways with Marseille this month following a short but eventful stint in Ligue 1. He has Premier League experience from his time with Brighton.
  7. Enzo Maresca has been unattached since leaving Chelsea on New Year’s Day 2026. He offers a modern, disciplined tactical approach and experience managing in high-pressure environments.
  8. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is another currently seeking a return to English football after a stint managing Besiktas. The ex-Manchester United boss is known for a fast, counter-attacking style.
